004 - Becoming Part of Fleet Nation
DJ Mani Midi Fleet Bio
This year, DJ Mos P hit me up online and made me aware of a DJ Conglomerate or family, namely the Fleet DJs. Founded by DJ Klassik, this crew has roughly 360+ members worldwide that work together kinda like a ‘choir to acquire what we desire’ (HOV). Thanks to Mos P and her inclination that I might resonate with this crew, I joined the Fleet DJs as Midwest Fleet Family and part of the Illinois Fleet. Props to DJ Baby G for the proper onboarding as in the past, I have not had a great experience with onboarding of positions and teams that I joined. I highly recommend the Fleet Team.
Over the past few months, I have been part of numerous platforms set up for communication with the Fleet family where many share tips in the industry, promo music, expertise on software and social media applications for DJs and producers and much more. More than anything, it is a family or fraternity of like-minded artists all trying to accomplish the same thing. Some play and love Reggae, House, Hip-Hop, R&B, Techno, Latino or Gospel et.al, while some may like all of the genres, however the Fleet team has set up websites, radio stations, shows, mobile applications, events and more across the planet that allows the family to really showcase all their talents in DJing, Producing, Rapping, Singing, Photography, Make-Up Art and more. About 20 calls take place a month with famous and up-and-coming artists all trying to break their records. I have been aware of past calls with Wiz Khalifa, Cardi B and more. I have personally been on calls with Nene Leakes, Jadakiss and much more. All in all, being part of the Fleet Conglomerate has been a ‘good look’ for the music career, as was also suggested by DJ Tommy Gunz from NJ who has Fleet experience himself and was a big reason I was aware of the ‘Fleet’. As I told Klassik on my introductory call, ‘Like Rihanna has her Navy, I will consider it that DJ Mani Midi, MM Dot and Tha Werd movement has its #FLEET’! We are ready to set sail into that sea of good music, for real!
